High Protein Creami Instructions
Getting started with the Creami had a learning curve and I made a few very disappointing batches. Follow these instructions and it will hopefully be right from the start.
Which Creami button to pick: I have played around and Ice Cream and Lite Ice Cream will get you a thicker consistency. Frozen Yogurt is closer to a soft serve consistency.
Select Size: If it is a first use, full container, hit "Full" button. If you have already eaten some and refrozen, do the "bottom" button.
Step by Step.
- Pull mixed container out of freezer. Pull Creami out of freezer and let it sit on the counter at least 10 minutes.
- Insert the container into the container with handle.
- Screw on the lid.
- Put the closed container into the base straight ahead and then turn towards your right until it locks in place (it will rise up as it locks in place)
- Press the part of the container you want to mix - full, bottom or top.
- Next select the style - thickest (Ice Cream) to thinest (frozen yogurt). As best as I can tell, you pick the style you want rather than what the ingredients are.
- Hit the center silver knob and it will start. Warning, it is very loud!
- Once it stops mixing, pull out the container by hitting the grey button on the bottom left side and twisting it to the left until it is all the way down. Then just slide it out.
- Unscrew the top and you will see it looks very, very powdery. It is not ready yet! Pour in some milk (about 1/4 cup).
- Repeat step 2 through 7 with one exception. before you start it, hit the "Re-Spin" button.
- Still powdery? Occasionally, you will have to repeat adding milk and doing the re-spin again.
- Using mix ins: If doing this step, repeat steps again but this time instead of adding milk, create a hole in the middle with a spoon and pour toppings into the hole (I usually put in shaved chocolate). Then repeat step 4 and 5 with one exception: before you start it, hit the "mix-in" button.
General Protein Powder Recipe Formula:
- 1 scoop protein powder (I prefer the Truvani Whey* but you can use any protein powder)
- 1.5 cups milk (I use Fairlife milk for extra protein - have used both skim and 2% but you can use any milk you want)
- 3 oz yogurt (usually use nonfat greek but have used Icelandic, Plain)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Variations with Protein Powder: Follow all instructions above with the following additions / flavors
- Strawberry Chocolate Chip: Truvani Whey Strawberry. At the mix in stage (not when freezing), add shaved chocolate
- Earl Grey: Truvani Vanilla Whey. To make the tea flavor, warm the milk and then steep 3 Earl Grey tea bags (decaf for night). Let the milk cool on the counter and then put it in the fridge for a few hours to really get teh tea flavor).
- Chocolate Peanut Butter: Truvani Whey Chocolate. Add in 2 Tablespoons Peanut Butter Powder.
- Mocha: Use Truvani Whey Chocolate. To make the coffee part, add 1-1.5 Tablespoons instant coffee (decaf for night) and mis it with a small amount of hot water to dissolve the coffee. Also good to add 0.5 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Peppermint Mocha: Use Truvani Whey Chocolate. Add 1-1.5 Tablespoons instant coffee (decaf for night) and mis it with a small amount of hot water to dissolve the coffee. Add 0.25 teaspoon of peppermint extract. Optional to add 0.5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder.
Formula with Fairlife Protein Shake
- 1 container of Fairlife Protein Shake
- 3 oz nonfat yogurt (usually use greek but have used Icelandic, Plain)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Variations with Fairlife Protein:
- Strawberry Chocolate Chip: Use Strawberry Fairlife Protein Shake. At mix in stage, add shaved chocolate
- Chocolate Peanut Butter: Use Chocolate Fairlife Protein Shake. Add 2 Tablespoons Peanut Butter Powder.
*The Whey variety is fairly new and I love it. I have tried the Truvani Plant based variety (better assortment of flavors) and taste was okay/good; however, the Whey was much better in my opinion. They constantly say they are out of stock on the Truvani site but you can find them at Whole Foods, New Leaf, and other stores. I am hoping they start ramping up on stocking it.
